Kookaï is a fashion-forward brand that is famous for their unique approach to design and their modern play on classic styles. They have taken bold and powerful styles like the suit and softened it with pale colours, feminine patterns and simple jewelry.
Kookaï is selling confidence, femininity, and independence, this is communicated clearly in their sleek clothing.Their overall aim is to aid the Kookaï woman in feeling comfortable and powerful in her own skin.
The Power of Expression' is the main phrase that I picked up while researching the client, and I wanted to give that phrase a visual identity within this space.
Alluring line drawings of female were studied and free-hand drawn as ideas ran wild on how they can abstracted and warped before being applied to display elements, lighting and furniture.
The initial sketches explored the soft lines and contours that define and empower women.
Allow the fluidity of the curved glass draw you into the alluring space. The vertical marble poles act as a marker for the site lines and act as a uniform line for the curved glass to break through.
The space communicates confidence and femininity with its soft contour and abstract fixtures.
The display elements act as walls to obstruct views of the whole store, inspiring curiousity within the customers and drawing them further into the store.
All the curves and organic shapes are abstracted and warbed line drawings of the female form.
A lounge was added to bring a luxurious boutique experience with organic shaped furniture and a custom designed coffee table composed of polished cement.
The cement finish was chosen for the table, parts of the flooring and walls to further express Kookai's softened take on the masculine suit. The contrast of having such a harsh material sanded down to a soft touch and moulded to form such feminine lines speaks to that.
