Suss
Located on the top floor of new Parramatta Square community building Phive, Suss is a new cocktail bar led by 2020's Australia's Best Bartender Evan Stroeve.
The brief was to create a space that expresses confidence and playfullness, with vibrant colours and interactive touchpoint briging the space to life.
The client is a prominent cocktail artist so I drew inspiration from cocktail glasses in all their shapes and colours. I wanted to apply those forms to seating arrangements, the bars design and furniture.
The bars design was inspired by the classic champagne flute, the space will be where Evan Stroeve and bartender will make drinks so it must act as a stage for patrons to watch them work.
The seating modules were inspired by different tumblers and glasses. One was made for flexibility, incase a bigger party wants to be seated while another arrangement is made for smaller parties.
Suss is a playful space full of interactive touchoints that encourage its patrons to leave their seats and interact with eachother and the space.
One of the touchpoints of Suss is a photo-op installation of a giant martini glass that people can climb into and document their experience.
The main inpiration behind the design and design elements is cocktail glasses in all their forms and shapes. The bar and hostess table is inspired by champagne flutes.
To best accomadate all kinds of parties, there are smaller seating pods with padded walls to dull the noise. This space is intended for groups that are looking for a more intimate and lowkey night.
